NiceZyme View of ENZYME: EC 1.3.1.78

Official Name
Arogenate dehydrogenase (NADP(+)).
Alternative Name(s)
Arogenic dehydrogenase.
Pretyrosine dehydrogenase.
TyrA(a).
TyrAAT1.
TyrAAT2.
Reaction catalysed
L-arogenate + NADP(+) <=> L-tyrosine + NADPH + CO(2)
Comment(s)
  • Unlike EC 1.3.1.43 and EC 1.3.1.79, this enzyme has a strict requirement for NADP(+).
  • The enzyme from Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 and the isoform TyrAAT1 cannot use prephenate as a substrate, while the isoform TyrAAT2 can use it only very poorly.
